God Can Help Me Love Others!

. . . Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:39

How do you love your neighbor as yourself? Start by asking, "How do I show love for myself?" Here are some ways you do this: You eat when you're hungry. You rest when you're tired. You don't put harmful things, like bad drugs, in your body. Sometimes, you give yourself a treat, like ice cream!

Then ask this question: "Who is my neighbor?" Someone in the Bible asked Jesus that question, so Jesus told a story that helped him understand that his "neighbor" was anyone who needed his help (Luke 10:30-37).
Loving yourself means doing good things for yourself, and loving your neighbor means doing good things for other people. Do you know someone who needs food or clothes? Is there anyone who could use some help with schoolwork? Do you know a child that nobody wants to play with? How could you help these people?

The best way you can help other people is to tell them about the Lord Jesus so they can have their sins forgiven. Many people around you need your help. God can show you what you can do to help them. Ask Him to help you "love your neighbor as yourself." He will!
