How Did Rahab Use the Shield of Faith?

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

A woman named Rahab lived in Jericho. The people in her city didn't believe in the true and living God and had done many evil things. God had commanded His people, Israel, to conquer Jericho. The Israelite leader sent spies into the city, but the king of Jericho found out and was searching for them.
(Joshua 2)

Rahab helped the spies to hide. She told them that she believed in the God of Israel. Later, she helped them escape by lowering them down the high stone wall by a rope. Before they left, they made a promise to Rahab. Because of her faith, God would save her during the battle. They told her to tie a red rope in her window and gather her family inside. They promised that when the day of battle came, she and her family would be safe (Joshua 2:17-20).

It may have seemed strange to Rahab and her family, but she believed God's promise, and did exactly as she was told. Because of her faith, Rahab and her family were saved. In another part of the Bible, God lists Rahab as a hero of faith (Hebrews 11:31). Trust and obey God–that's how you use your shield of faith!
