I Need to Confess My Sins to God!

Now we are children of God . . . when he appears, we shall be like him . . . 1 John 3:2

Isn't it great that God gives His children the strength to say "no" to sin? You don't have to give in when Satan tempts you to do wrong. The Bible says, "The Lord is my helper" (Hebrews 13:6). What happens if you do sin? If you're God's child, the Lord Jesus will never leave you. But sin spoils your fellowship (friendship) with God. It makes Him sad because He hates sin.

The Holy Spirit convicts you about your sins. He lets you know that things are no longer right between you and God. Sinning makes you feel far away from God. Only by confessing your sins to God can you be forgiven.

To confess your sins to God means to agree with Him that you did wrong. Don't say, "I made a mistake" or "I made a bad choice." Tell Him you have sinned and that you're sorry. The Bible says when we confess our sins, God "will forgive us our sins" (1 John 1:9). When you confess your sins, your friendship with God will be made right. He will hear and answer your prayers. Thank God for His forgiveness and ask Him to help you not to sin again.
