Admitting Our Mistakes
Bonnie Ricks
Scripture does not tell us exactly why God rejected Cain's offering. Perhaps it was because of God's requirement for blood sacrifice, so Cain's grain offering was insufficient. Perhaps it was because Cain only brought "some of the fruits of the soil", while Abel brought the "fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock" - much more valuable because it was Abel's best. And perhaps it was because of Cain's heart.

Daily
Promise
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. (Psalms 9:9 KJV)
My Prayer: Lord, thank You for being my stronghold throughout my life! I could not imagine living one day without You! Father, continue to shape me into Your image and cause me to seek Your face more. For I am so grateful nothing can snatch me away from Your hand! Make me worthy of Your goodness and faithfulness. |

Prayer
Perscription
Dear Lord, we ask that You hear our prayers today for those parents and teachers who are discouraged with our public school system. Many teachers find that they are deterred from teaching as they would like, and many parents are fearful of what their children are learning and much of what they aren't learning. ... Other parents are home schooling and find themselves criticized, and under pressure if they teach Christian ethics. ... To many parents, "it takes a village ..." has come to mean more government control. Parents often feel that they are losing control of their children to the peer-pressure in their schools, where there is often no teaching of right and wrong, or the meaning of virtue. ... Remind us, that Abraham Lincoln said, "The philosophy of the classroom in one generation is the philosophy of the government in the next!" ... Let us prayerfully consider the concerns of these parents and teachers who are facing these problems of our schools today, for as citizens, and as Christians, we too, need to be concerned!
In Jesus' name we pray.
Amen. |
